Imam Ali Holy Shrine begins roofing project of northern perimeter of Holy Shrine
The Engineering and Technical Department at Imam Ali Holy Shrine has begun the first phase of the project to replace the roof of the northern side of the outer perimeter of the Holy Shrine.
Mustafa Mohebbah, head of the department, told Shia Waves Agency that the engineering and technical staff had removed the old roof on Sheikh Tusi Gate in the Shrine of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
Mohebbah added that the project is being carried out to reduce the loads that the old roof is placing on the wall of the Holy Shrine from the north.
The work will be carried out in two phases, with the current phase covering an area of 3,300 square meters. The new roof is being constructed using high-quality materials from around the world.
Mohebbah continued that the second phase of the work, which covers an area of 6,500 square meters, will be completed afterwards. He also confirmed that a study is underway to cover the areas of the new extension in the future phases.
For his part, the project supervisor, Engineer Ali Al-Akaishi, said that the work is continuing and is expected to be completed within 60 days.
