Iraq: Shia Muslims commemorate martyrdom anniversary Sayyid Ibrahim in Holy Kufa
Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, in Iraq commemorated the sorrowful martyrdom of Sayyid Ibrahim al-Ghamar, grandson of Imam Hassan and Imam Hussein, peace be upon them, at his holy shrine in the holy city of Kufa in Holy Najaf.
The Secretariat-General of the holy shrine stated that “a large number of Shia Muslims arrived in the holy shrine of Sayyid Ibrahim al-Ghamar, peace be upon him, to commemorate the anniversary of his sorrowful martyrdom, which marked at the end of the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal.”
It continued that it “various mourning programs were arranged to commemorate this tragedy, with the participation of scholars from the honorable Hawza, a delegation from the holy shrines as well as Hussaini processions.”
The officials said that “religious lectures were held recalling the biography of Sayyid Ibrahim, and the missionary role he played along with a group of his faithful companions, and the injustice and oppression they endured by the oppressive Umayyads.”
Sayyid Ibrahim al-Ghamar is the son of al-Hassan al-Thani, son of Imam al-Hassan al-Mujtaba, peace be upon them, and his mother is the great scholar Sayyida Fatima, daughter of Imam al-Hussein, peace be upon them.
He was a great scholar and pious man who was martyred by the Umayyad oppressors of the in the year (97 AH).
