Holy City of Karbala: An international city and a destination for the free people

The first Deputy Governor of Holy Karbala, Jassim al-Fatlawi, confirmed today, Monday, that the holy city of Karbala has become known internationally and is now the destination for the free people, due to the massive pilgrimages of Ashura and Arba’een.

Al-Fatlawi said in a statement received by Shia Waves that, “The local government has achieved groundbreaking successes in managing these million pilgrimages despite the great challenges it faces.”

He continued that “This year’s pilgrimage has greater challenges, as we expect the number of pilgrims to be bigger than the previous year which reached more than ( 22 million visitors) during the Arba’een, due to security and political stability.”

Al-Fatlawi confirmed that the government departments are mobilizing all efforts, in coordination with the two holy shrines, to provide services and security to the honorable pilgrims on the coming Ashura and Arba’een of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
