Indian, American devotees of Ahlul Bayt demand reconstruction of Baqi during protests on Shawwal 8th

Members of the Shia community in Hyderabad, India, held a protest on Friday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the demolition of the Shrines of Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) in Baqi cemetery.

During this event, prominent speakers of the community made speeches and expressed their demands for rebuilding of this holy place, while protesters held banners and chanted slogans.

According to an article published by Siasat Daily on Friday April 29th, Washington DC also saw a demonstration of concerned Shiites in front of the Saudi Embassy.

Muslim scholars tried to submit a memorandum over their demands to the Saudi Ambassador, but their request was declined by Embassy officials despite legal protocols allowing the practice.

“This is not a Shia issue; this is not a Sunni issue; this is a humanitarian rights issue.”, said Zaina Khan, a freshman in high school, adding that the Saudi regime is “the biggest threat to humanitarian rights and Shia rights.

It should be mentioned that going to the graves of beloved lost ones is a basic human right, but the Shia community has been deprived of visiting the site where the pure family members of their beloved Prophet lie in peace.
