First Muslim cemetery in Greece nears completion
Greek media said that work has been completed for the construction of the first cemetery for Muslims in the Greek capital, Athens, according to Anatolia Agency.
The newspaper “T Nea” reported that the construction of the first cemetery for Muslims in Athens is nearing completion after 7 years.
The newspaper pointed out that Attica Greek would fund the establishment of the cemetery and would be ready in the summer of 2023. The total area is 7.5 hectares.
It is worth mentioning that there is no cemetery for Muslims in Athens, therefore they bury their dead in Western Thrace, inhabited by Turkish Muslims, or send them to their countries.
Some 500,000 Muslims live in Athens after many immigrants to Greece in the past decades.
