Member of the European Parliament criticizes the human rights situation in Bahrain

The Spanish member of the European Parliament, Rosa Estaras Ferragut, presented a question in the European Parliament to the Vice-President of the Commission and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, about a resolution on the human rights situation in Bahrain.
The resolution was adopted by the European Parliament on March 11 by an overwhelming majority and particularly highlights the cases of people under death row and human rights defenders in Bahrain.
Representative Estaras Ferragut said in her question, “In Resolution No. 2578/2021, the European Parliament condemned the measures taken by the government of Bahrain against human rights defenders, especially the misuse of anti-terrorism laws, the continued use of torture, and the government’s continued failure to comply with its obligations under United Nations Convention and other matters.”
Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain (ADHRB) welcomed this parliamentary question, and thanked Representative Estaras Ferragut for drawing attention to the ongoing human rights crisis and the suffering of human rights defenders and political activists imprisoned in Bahrain.
