Sudanese female researcher visits Iraq, highlights volunteer work of Arbaeen Pilgrimage

The Sudanese researcher, Dr. Awatif Abdallah, specialized in social work, visited Iraq for the first time. Abdallah also visited Karbala and saw the massive Arbaeen Pilgrimage and other Husseini processions and services.

“This is my first visit to Iraq, in response to an invitation to participate in the Arbaeen International Scientific Conference. I chose ‘volunteer work’ and its role in developing the society”, Abdallah said.

She continued: “On my way to Iraq, I had no idea about the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, and I had fears about the security situation. But upon my arrival, I found Iraq a safe country, especially the city of Karbala.”

She added: “I found the ‘volunteer work’ during the Arbaeen highly organized, motivated by pure love to serve the pilgrims. This led me to conclude in my research that volunteer work does achieve social development and creates a sense of cooperation.”

Abdallah invited the researchers to increase their information and to study the Arbaeen Pilgrimage to know the true facts which are not seriously addressed by the international media.”
