Tatbir ritual in the holy city of Karbala
The holy city of Karbala has a special vibe these days. On the tenth day of the month of Muharram, the holy city of Karbala witnessed the presence of millions of mourners in white shrouds with their faces covered in blood as they mourned the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, his family and companions, peace be upon them.
The Tatbir ritual began after the dawn prayer in the holy city of Karbala and continued until the noon call to prayer.
This holy ritual is supported by the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi and many other great religious authorities.
In this ritual, mourners march in the Holy Shrines of Imam Hussain and al-Abbas and Bein al-Haramein, striking their heads with swords and calling “Haidar”, in mourning for the Master of Martyrs, peace be upon him.
This blessed tradition has been held in the holy city of Karbala since ancient times, which of course was prohibited during the era of the Baath regime in Iraq, but after the fall of the Baath regime, the revival of this holy ritual resumed in the holy city of Karbala.
It should be noted that this mourning was broadcasted live on six channels of the Imam Hussein Media Group.
Needless to say, in many cities of the world, Tatbir ceremonies were held on the morning of Ashura.
