Britain recalls children’s book over anti-Muslim images

Britain decided to withdraw a famous children’s book from markets and libraries, due to complaints about its racist messages against Muslims, according to the British newspaper, The Times.

In one of the books of the famous series, children travel to countries in the Middle East, where they encounter “unfriendly” people in a “scary” place, and the drawings show the features of the residents of the place, whose intention was clearly the residents of the Middle East, “frowning” and “scary”.

Many in Britain considered the images offensive to Muslims, especially those who live in the Middle East, and instilled thoughts of hatred towards them among children, according to the newspaper.

One of the children in the adventure says: “Let’s stay together and not separate. The people here don’t seem friendly,” and his friend replied, “I don’t like this place. It’s scary.”

Residents appear dressed in simple and old clothes, while a woman appears wearing a niqab, and the men appear to be frowning with thick mustaches, and goats appeared in the middle of the crowded market, all of which are signs of racism and a superior view of the Middle East.

Oxford University Press announced the withdrawal of all copies of this story from the market, and the destruction of the copies it maintains.
