A young man suspected of killing his half-sister and opening fire on worshipers inside a mosque on the outskirts of Oslo over the weekend confessed during questioning the two crimes, police said on Monday.

The 21-year-old Norwegian was arrested on Monday on suspicion of terrorism and murder, and he documented these crimes by filming himself with a camera attached to his helmet.

Philip Manhaus, 21, is accused of killing his half-sister Johann Zhangjia Ely-Hansen, 17, before heading to the Nur mosque in a prestigious Oslo suburb and shooting inside, where three worshipers were lightly wounded.

Manhaus appeared in a court in Oslo on Monday, with bruises and scratches on his face as a result of his clash with people at the mosque who managed to control him until police arrived.

Police said the young man had far-right views and attitudes to xenophobia, which he had initially denied.
