Arbaeen festival launched from the farthest point in southern Iraq
Today, the activities of the ninth festival to start the Arbaeen walk towards Karbala were launched in the Ras al-Bishah area in the farthest district of al-Faw, south of Basra province.
The festival is an official announcement of the launch of the blessed Arbaeen walk on foot towards the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, from various Iraqi provinces and cities.
A member of the festival’s organizing committee, Sheikh Faisal al-Abadi, said in a speech on the occasion, “The opening speech of the festival was supposed to be delivered by a member from the al-Hakeem family, but we were saddened by the loss of the religious authority, Sayyid Muhammad Saeed al-Hakeem, may Allah bless his soul.
He added, “These rituals such as the blessed walk are the main reason that preserve the religion of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his progeny, and they bring us closer to the Almighty.”
