Baghdad: Terrorist plot to target mourning ceremonies for Imam Hussein thwarted
The Iraqi security forces managed to thwart a terrorist plot targeting mourning ceremonies for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in the capital, Baghdad.
The Popular Mobilization Authority said in a statement, which Shia Waves Agency received a copy of, that “through a qualitative operation in cooperation with the intelligence and security of the Baghdad Operations Command and the Second Regiment of the Iraqi army, a hideout was discovered including explosive belts in the Zaydan area, west of the capital, Baghdad, where the terrorists wanted to use them against mourning ceremonies for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, during the holy month of Muharram.”
It pointed out, “The terrorists were arrested on the basis of an arrest warrant in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law.”
