The State Security Directorate of Flensburg said in a statement that the Uyis al-Qarni mosque, run by the Turkish-Islamic Union of Religious Affairs (DIMT), was attacked on Wednesday.
The statement said that unknown persons entered the mosque, ripped pages of the Quran and damaged parts of the mosque.
For its part, the police announced in a statement that they opened an investigation to uncover the circumstances of the attack, and requested assistance from the residents of the town to arrest the perpetrators.
In June 2019, two mosques in the German cities of Bremen and Kassel were also attacked.
