suspects attempted to set fire to a mosque in the southern Dutch city

Unidentified suspects attempted to set fire to a mosque in the southern Dutch city of Roosendaal, in the Dutch province of North Brabant.

Dutch police said in a statement that the attempted arson attack caused damage to the mosque, affirming that full investigation is underway in earnest to reveal the identity of the perpetrators.

In Spain, arsonists set fire to a mosque in the Spanish town of Don Benito in the early hours of Saturday in an attack suspected by the mayor to be in retaliation for a series of terrorist attacks in Paris, Europe Online Magazine reported.

Mayor Jose Luis Quintana said he had not ruled out the possibility that the fire was a revenge attack.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames. The entrance to the mosque was damaged but no casualties were reported.
