Police in London have launched an investigation after the Al-Hasana Islamic Centre in Stratford, east London, was targeted in an attack that saw its glass facade shattered. The incident occurred last Friday evening, coinciding with the beginning of Islamophobia Awareness Month, which is observed throughout November, and has renewed concerns over the growing threat of anti-Muslim hostility in the United Kingdom.

Local Member of Parliament Uma Kumaran described the attack as disturbing. In a joint statement with Newham Mayor Farhad Hussain, she said they were closely monitoring the investigation and maintaining contact with local police, stressing that the safety and security of Muslim communities and all residents remained a priority.

The Newham Muslim Association also condemned the incident, warning that attacks on places of worship must not become normalized. In a statement published on X, the association said the attack highlighted the continued vulnerability of Muslim communities to anti-Muslim hatred.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a full investigation had been launched to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. Police officials expressed concern over the impact of the incident on local residents and reiterated that Islamophobic behaviour has no place in London.
