Grand Ayatullah Shirazi Congratulates Muslims on Birth Anniversary of Lady Zainab (peace be upon her)

The office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi has extended congratulations to the Muslim world, particularly followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), on the birth anniversary of Lady Zainab al-Kubra (peace be upon her), highlighting her enduring role in preserving and conveying the message of Imam Hussein’s uprising.

In a statement published on the official website of the religious authority and reported by Shia Waves Agency, the office offered congratulations to Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) and Muslim believers on the occasion, describing Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) as a model of patience and steadfastness and a central figure in transmitting the message of Ashura.

The statement emphasized Lady Zainab’s distinguished position in Islamic history and her courage in confronting hardship, particularly her role following the Battle of Karbala in preserving the principles of Imam Hussein’s movement and ensuring that its message reached subsequent generations.

The office’s message also reflects Grand Ayatollah al-Shirazi’s emphasis on commemorating the occasions associated with the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), including their birth anniversaries and celebrations, as expressions of affection, loyalty and spiritual connection.

According to the office, religious observances should not focus exclusively on occasions of mourning but should also include the joyful anniversaries of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). This approach draws on a tradition attributed to an Imam stating that the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt “rejoice in our joy,” underscoring the importance of sharing in both their celebrations and their grief.
