Three individuals were killed and several others injured, including three police officers, in a shooting incident in the city of Minneapolis, USA. The authorities announced the death of the suspect amidst ongoing investigations to determine the motives and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Garrett Parten, the spokesperson for the Minneapolis Police Department, stated that one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while four others were transported to the hospital, one of whom later succumbed to their injuries.
He added that three police officers were also taken to the hospital. Among them, two officers had sustained gunshot wounds. One officer was injured in the leg, while the other underwent surgery, though the nature of the third officer’s injury was not disclosed.
The area surrounding the incident site witnessed a heavy security presence, and videos circulated on social media showing police officers aiming their weapons towards a residential tower near the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Witnesses reported hearing screams and several gunshots, while authorities urged residents to avoid the area as security operations and investigations continued.
Several law enforcement agencies responded to the incident, including agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, following reports of gunfire in downtown Minneapolis.
