A demolition drive at the historic Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque near Turkman Gate in Delhi has disrupted community welfare activities, with local residents alleging that the removal of mosque-related facilities caused significant damage to healthcare and charitable services.

According to a report by Muslim Mirror, residents said bulldozers demolished parts of the mosque complex, including boundaries, a healthcare center, guest facilities, ablution areas and other structures. The action was carried out by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi following a Delhi High Court order related to a petition challenging the site’s structures.

Members of the mosque committee said the facilities had provided low-cost medical services, medicines and community support programs for local residents, particularly low-income families. They claimed that medical equipment and other belongings were damaged or removed during the operation, forcing the relocation of some services.

The report also described arrests and clashes during the demolition operation, with local residents alleging excessive use of force and targeting of Muslim community members. Some individuals were later granted bail after courts cited a lack of evidence in their cases.

Community members said the incident has caused financial and psychological hardship, while calling for the restoration of welfare activities and protection of religious and charitable institutions.
