Celebrations commemorating the birth anniversary of Lady Zainab al-Kubra, peace be upon her, are taking place worldwide from the first to the seventh of Jumada al-Awwal. Ceremonies featuring religious speeches and festivities have begun at holy shrines, Hussainiyas, religious authorities’ residences and Islamic centers.

The events honor Lady Zainab’s knowledge, spiritual stature, eloquence and steadfastness, particularly her role in preserving and conveying the message of Ashura. Born in Medina in the fifth year after the Hijra, she is widely revered as a symbol of courage, sacrifice, dignity and perseverance in the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) tradition. She is widely known as al-Aqila and is renowned as the Messenger of Karbala, without whom the legacy of Karbala would not have reached the posterity.
