Researchers Highlight Arba’een Pilgrimage as Opportunity to Promote Quranic Culture

Academic researchers have emphasized the potential of the Arba’een pilgrimage to strengthen the spiritual connection between believers, the Holy Quran, and the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), describing the gathering as a significant opportunity to promote Quranic values and teachings.

The researchers said Arba’een represents one of the manifestations of honoring the sacred rites of God, referring to the Quranic principle that reverence for divine symbols reflects the piety of the heart. They noted that the Ashura uprising of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and the Arba’een pilgrimage share common values, including resistance, justice, truth-seeking, awareness, and commitment to religious principles.

They explained that while Ashura represents the struggle and sacrifice of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), Arba’een serves as a global platform for cultural and intellectual efforts to preserve and spread the message of his movement.

The researchers called for expanding Quranic initiatives during the pilgrimage, including Quran recitation programs, educational activities, competitions, and reflection sessions along the pilgrims’ routes, to strengthen engagement with the Holy Book during the spiritual journey.

They also stressed the importance of using the gathering to promote unity, ethical conduct, and social responsibility while addressing challenges through Quranic teachings.

The Arba’een pilgrimage, held annually in Karbala, is among the world’s largest religious gatherings, attracting millions of visitors from different countries and communities.
