Imprisoned scholars in Bahrain urge cessation of pressure on Shiites
——————————————-
A group of scholars and political figures imprisoned in Bahrain has issued a statement calling on authorities to cease the security and media campaign against Shiites, IQNA reported.
In this statement, released from Jau Central Prison, they emphasize that resolving the crises and maintaining the country’s stability can only be achieved through reason, dialogue, and cooperation.
The signatories assert that their demand aims to preserve national unity and the country’s best interests.
They stress the urgent need to halt actions designed to tarnish the social image of Shiites, create a climate of fear, target religious and educational institutions, and suppress freedom of expression.
They also denounce the revocation of the citizenship of numerous Bahraini families and citizens, as well as their forced exile without a fair trial.
Furthermore, they criticize the arbitrary detentions of women, teenagers, religious figures, and political activists, who are often subjected to ill-treatment and unjust trials.
These actions are deemed contrary to human rights principles and Bahrain’s international commitments, risking an escalation of social and political tensions. The signatories conclude by calling for the crises to be resolved through dialogue and national cooperation to guarantee the country’s unity and security.
