Iraq Launches Smart Services and Infrastructure Projects to Support Arbaeen Pilgrims

Iraqi authorities have launched new digital and infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving services for millions of pilgrims expected to participate in the Arbaeen pilgrimage to Karbala.

A unified smart system has been introduced by Iraq’s holy shrines to help locate missing pilgrims and guide those who become separated from their groups. According to Al-Furat News, the system connects the computer networks of the holy sites, allowing rapid tracking and assistance for pilgrims across the religious cities and shrine areas. The service will remain operational throughout the Arbaeen season.

Meanwhile, the Karbala provincial government has inaugurated new urban development projects and dedicated areas to organize the movement of Arbaeen pilgrims. According to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the new routes and service spaces are designed to improve traffic flow, increase the capacity for receiving pilgrims and reduce congestion at major entrances to the city.

Officials said the projects are part of broader preparations to enhance safety, transportation and service facilities during the period when millions of visitors travel to Karbala to commemorate Arbaeen.
