Black mourning flags were raised at the holy shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in Najaf as part of ceremonies commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him), the elder grandson of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family).

According to Shia Waves Agency, the ceremony was attended by shrine servants and pilgrims, marking the official start of mourning programs honoring Imam Hasan (peace be upon him). Visitors gathered in the courtyard of the Imam Ali Shrine to offer condolences and express their devotion to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

Meanwhile, the Dhi Qar Provincial Council announced a public holiday on Wednesday, July 22, to allow residents to participate in ceremonies commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him).

The council stated that the holiday applies to government institutions across the province, with exceptions for security, health and essential service departments that will continue operating to maintain public services.
