Texas Congressman Faces Backlash Over Anti-Muslim Social Media Post

Texas Congressman Faces Backlash Over Anti-Muslim Social Media Post
———————————-
Republican U.S. Rep. Chip Roy of Texas’ 21st Congressional District has sparked widespread criticism after posting on social media: “No more Muslims. No more criminals. No more marxists. No more corporatists. #SaveTexas.”

Critics accused Roy of Islamophobia and of violating the principles of the U.S. Constitution, particularly the First Amendment’s guarantees of religious freedom. Social media users condemned the message as discriminatory and inconsistent with his oath to uphold the Constitution.

Roy’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The congressman has previously supported hard-line immigration policies and co-founded the Sharia-Free America Caucus, which critics label as exclusionary toward Muslims.

The post comes amid heightened tensions following a mass shooting in Austin and escalating U.S.-Israeli military activity in Iran, contributing to growing concern over anti-Muslim rhetoric in political discourse.
