23 New Textbooks Launched to Teach Arabic and Islamic Studies in Ethiopian Schools

A total of 23 new educational textbooks designed to teach Arabic language and Islamic studies have been launched in Addis Ababa, aiming to improve educational resources for students in Islamic schools across Ethiopia.

The books are intended for students from kindergarten through the tenth grade and form part of broader efforts to modernize curricula in Islamic schools and strengthen the quality of religious and language education for Muslim students.

Project organizers said the development of the educational series followed several years of academic work and teaching experience. The textbooks were designed to cover multiple educational stages, from early childhood education to the early secondary level.

The preparation and printing of the books required an investment of more than 1.3 million Ethiopian birr. The initiative seeks to enhance the teaching of Arabic and Islamic sciences while integrating updated educational materials into Islamic school programs.

According to project supervisors, the new curricula were developed with the participation of education specialists and curriculum experts to ensure academic quality and suitability for different student levels.

The book launch event was attended by education officials, representatives of academic institutions, teachers, students, and invited guests. Speakers highlighted the importance of the initiative in supporting Islamic education and strengthening Arabic language learning within Ethiopia’s educational environment.
