Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Declares Thursday First Day of Ramadan

The office of Grand Ayatollah Sayid Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi announced that Thursday will mark the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the office said the crescent moon of Ramadan had been sighted and confirmed according to the religious criteria of the Supreme Marja. Accordingly, Thursday, corresponding to February 19, is the first day of Ramadan 1447 AH.

The announcement was released to inform the faithful and provide clarity on the beginning of fasting and related religious observances. The statement urged believers to observe the month’s rituals, including fasting, prayer, and acts of charity.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and holds special significance for Muslims worldwide as a period of worship, reflection, and spiritual discipline.
