Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Infallible Imams’ Knowledge of All Things Precedes Creation

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi stated that the Infallible Imams (peace be upon them) possess knowledge and awareness of all matters by divine decree, and that this knowledge existed even before the creation of anything.

The remarks were delivered during His Eminence’s daily scholarly session held on Tuesday, the 21st of Sha‘ban 1447 AH. As in previous sessions, the Supreme Marja addressed questions from attendees on various jurisprudential and theological issues.

Regarding the concept of ‘A’lim ul-Ghayb’ (aware of the unseen) for the Infallible Imams, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi explained that mutawatir (widely transmitted) narrations, as well as supplications and devotional texts, affirm that all fourteen Infallible Imams (peace be upon them) have knowledge and awareness of everything in existence.

He further emphasized that the knowledge of the Infallible Imams encompasses all matters created by God and that it was present prior to the creation of the universe, highlighting the profound and timeless nature of their divine insight.
