Saudi Arabia Breaks Execution Record for Second Consecutive Year
—————————————–
Saudi Arabia has broken its execution record for the second consecutive year, carrying out 340 executions in the current year.

According to Shia Waves Agency, many of the executions targeted the Shia minority on allegedly fabricated or unproven charges, with some cases being repeated.

Euronews Persian reports that a significant portion of the sentences were related to drug-related offenses. However, human rights activists argue that these actions contradict Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s reform pledges, which ostensibly aimed to reduce violence and modernize the country.

Analysts warn that the surge in executions moves Saudi Arabia further away from promised reforms and carries broad social and security implications.

The increase in capital punishments has also raised concern among the international community and human rights organizations, signaling the continuation of repressive policies in the kingdom.
