300 Digital Braille Qurans Distributed at International Non-Visual Quran Competitions in Indonesia

During the first international Quran memorization competitions for the visually impaired in Indonesia, 300 digital Braille Qurans were distributed to participants, organizers announced.

According to IQNA, the event, organized by the World Islamic Association “Al-Basira”, took place from December 4 to 7, 2025, in Jakarta, the Indonesian capital. Competitors came from multiple countries, showcasing their skills in memorization and recitation.

Organizers emphasized that the competitions aimed to promote Quranic memorization among the visually impaired, enhance their role in society, develop tajwid and memorization skills, and boost self-confidence through active participation in religious activities.

Events included complete Quran memorization using the Manzūmat al-Jazariyya, memorization of all 30 juzʾ for boys and girls, and 10- and 20-juzʾ categories.

The first-place winner in the full Quran memorization category was Zahra Khalili Samarin, representing Iran. The distribution of Braille Qurans highlighted innovative technology supporting visually impaired Quranic students worldwide.
