Damascus Returns Diplomatically to London; Syrian Embassy Reopens After a Decade
——————————————
Syria’s foreign minister officially reopened the country’s embassy in London on Thursday, 13 November, marking the restoration of diplomatic presence after more than a decade of severed relations.
The move is viewed as part of Damascus’ gradual return to the global diplomatic stage following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government.
According to the Shia Waves Agency, citing Reuters, Syria’s Foreign Minister Asad Sheibani described the United Kingdom as “the most forward-leaning Western country” in normalizing relations with the new Syrian government.
He added that the reopening paves the way for the exchange of ambassadors, economic and political cooperation, and the full restoration of Damascus’ diplomatic activity in Europe—signaling the beginning of a new chapter in Syria’s engagement with the international community.
