Tech Giants Announce Massive AI Infrastructure Push and Global Expansion

The global race for artificial intelligence dominance intensified this week, marked by a half-trillion-dollar U.S. infrastructure commitment and a massive expansion of premium AI services across the developing world.
OpenAI, in collaboration with Oracle and SoftBank, has announced an ambitious $500 billion “Stargate” project to build five large-scale AI data centers across the United States. According to Khaama Press, three facilities will be jointly constructed by OpenAI and Oracle in Texas, New Mexico, and another western region, while the remaining two in Ohio and Texas will be developed with SoftBank’s partnership.

The colossal project aims to increase data center capacity by up to seven gigawatts and is expected to attract more than $400 billion in investment over the next three years. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman underscored the necessity of this massive undertaking, stating, “Artificial intelligence will only deliver on its promises when we build the infrastructure it requires.” The initiative, which is expected to create 25,000 jobs, is backed by U.S. President Donald Trump, reflecting Washington’s political support for securing technological leadership. Chipmaker Nvidia has also committed up to $100 billion to provide high-performance chips for the facilities.
Concurrently, Google is rapidly expanding its commercial AI offerings, announcing the rollout of its ‘Google AI Plus plan’ to 40 additional countries, including Pakistan. This move, reported by Dawn, follows a successful initial launch in Indonesia earlier this month.
The ‘Google AI Plus plan’ is designed to make powerful AI tools more accessible, helping users increase productivity and creativity at an accessible price. Key features include increased access to the advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro model, the Veo 3 Fast video generation model, integration of Gemini into Google Workspace apps (Gmail, Docs, Sheets), and 200GB of storage.
