Lisbon, Portugal, hosted the third International Islamic Conference of Muslim Communities in Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CIPLP) on September 19-20, 2025. Held under the theme “Community Voices: Promoting Intercultural Dialogue and Cooperation,” the event drew wide participation from religious, academic, and diplomatic figures.

The conference featured active participation from organizations such as the Islamic Da’wah Center of Latin America (CDIAL), highlighting its growing role in strengthening bonds among Muslim communities. The opening session included addresses from prominent figures, including Sheikh Mounir, Imam of the Central Mosque of Lisbon, and Rawan Sulaiman, the Palestinian Ambassador to Portugal.

The main session focused on the role of religious institutions in promoting peace and citizenship, with notable speakers like Dr. Fernando Soares Luja, Vice President of the Religious Freedom Commission in Portugal.

The proceedings culminated in the issuance of the “Lisbon Charter,” a historic document that formalizes the commitment of Muslim communities in Lusophone nations to the values of peace, mutual understanding, and sustainable development. The Charter marks a significant milestone, underscoring the unity and collaborative work of these communities toward a more just and harmonious future.
