Iraq: Two Mass Graves Linked to ISIS Discovered in Sinjar
……………..

Two mass graves dating back to ISIS’s 2014 occupation have been uncovered in the village of Siba Sheikh Khidr, about 40 kilometers from Sinjar in Iraq’s Nineveh province. The discovery was made during construction work near a local power station, shortly after many displaced residents had returned to the area.

According to Khairy Ali Ibrahim, head of the Petrichor Human Rights Organization in Sinjar, initial reports suggested the remains of a single victim, but further inspection revealed two separate mass graves about 20 meters apart. The number of victims is still unknown, pending forensic teams’ arrival to begin exhumations.

One victim has been identified through personal documents found at the site as Sido Abbas Joko, a married man killed on August 3, 2014, alongside other villagers. Petrichor reports that 95 mass graves have been discovered in Sinjar to date. Of these, 68 have been opened, yielding 850 sets of remains, with only 96 victims formally identified.
