Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Calls for Removing Obstacles Facing Arbaeen Pilgrims and Facilitating Their Access to Karbala

Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi has called for avoiding restrictions and obstacles that prevent Imam Hussein’s (peace be upon him) pilgrims from reaching the holy city of Karbala, stressing the need to facilitate believers’ participation in the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
The supreme religious authority emphasized that the visitation of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and Husseini rituals should not be limited by barriers or conditions that hinder pilgrims from reaching the holy shrine, given the profound significance these rituals hold in the hearts of the followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
Ayatollah Shirazi highlighted the great responsibility of officials and concerned authorities toward Arbaeen pilgrims, warning against preventing people from attending the pilgrimage, creating obstacles in their way, or closing roads leading to the holy city of Karbala.
He stated that those who contribute to blocking pilgrims’ routes or preventing them from reaching Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) bear a significant responsibility for their actions and their consequences. He stressed the importance of dealing with the Husseini pilgrimage in a manner that reflects its sanctity and distinguished status.
The remarks by His Eminence come as large numbers of pilgrims from inside and outside Iraq continue to head toward the holy city of Karbala to commemorate Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), amid extensive preparations by Husseini processions and service groups to support the incoming crowds.
