Taliban Blocks Women From Entering UN Offices in Kabul Amid Growing Restrictions
……………

Local sources in Kabul reported on Monday, September 8, 2025, that the Taliban has barred women from entering United Nations offices and compounds in the Afghan capital. The measure, seen as a further escalation of restrictions on women, was enforced at UN facilities including the YONCA and Baron camps. Guards prevented both female employees and visitors from entering, while women already inside were ordered to leave.

According to the sources, the directive came directly from the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and the group’s leadership. UN staff in Kabul confirmed the move, though the United Nations has yet to issue an official statement, and Taliban officials have not publicly commented.

Analysts warn that the decision reflects the group’s continued clampdown on women’s participation in education, employment, and public life, raising concerns that Afghan women could be further excluded from humanitarian and international engagement, deepening the country’s crisis.
