Six Severed Heads Found on Road in Central Mexico
……………….
Six severed heads were discovered on a road linking Puebla and Tlaxcala in central Mexico, an area not usually associated with cartel violence, the BBC reported. Authorities found the heads early on Tuesday, along with a blanket bearing a warning to rival gangs, apparently signed by a group calling itself “La Barredora.” It remains unclear whether this group, known in Guerrero, was responsible or why the attack occurred.
Local prosecutors confirmed that the victims were men and have launched an investigation into the killings. Police have not provided a motive or identified which criminal organization may have carried out the attack. While the region is not typically a hotspot for extreme cartel violence, organized crime in Puebla and Tlaxcala is linked to drug trafficking and fuel smuggling, known as “huachicoleo.”
The incident comes amid a national crackdown on fentanyl trafficking by President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration. Recent years have seen an increase in cartel-related violence across Mexico, with major incidents including 20 bodies, four decapitated, found in Sinaloa in June, and a shooting at a Catholic Church festival in Guanajuato in May that killed seven youths.
