Bombay Mosque Hosts Non-Muslim Visitors on Indian Independence Day
———————————
In a move to promote interfaith coexistence, the 125-year-old Chishti Hindustani Mosque in Mumbai hosted a group of non-Muslim visitors on Indian Independence Day.
According to Shia News Agency, citing a report from Gulf News, the mosque’s Imam, Abdul Jabbar Azmi, explained the rituals of worship, including ablution, the call to prayer (Adhan), and the prayer itself. The event was part of the “Prophet for All” campaign, which aims to foster coexistence and correct misconceptions about Islam.
The campaign includes a variety of activities such as interfaith initiatives, blood drives, visits to orphanages, and food distribution to the sick. The mosque, known as Bishawoojla, previously assisted victims of the 2017 floods, an action that the report highlights as a symbol of India’s multicultural coexistence.
