Thousands of Nigerian citizens gathered in the capital city of Abuja for a two-day symbolic march to commemorate the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), a significant religious event for Muslims worldwide. The event, which took place amidst tight security measures, saw participants from various states across the country, dressed in black and holding religious flags.

They chanted slogans and recited elegies in remembrance of the tragedy of Karbala. Organizers stated that this year’s march was notably more organized, reflecting the deep connection Nigerians feel to Imam Hussein’s legacy.

The event mirrored the spirit of the massive pilgrimage to Karbala in Iraq, with participants reciting poems and organizing mourning sessions to convey messages of solidarity and unity. Participants emphasized that their presence was not merely a religious ritual but a universal human message of loyalty to Imam Hussein’s values of justice, freedom, and dignity.

Organizers highlighted that the Arbaeen commemoration in Nigeria embodies the unity of Muslims in the country and affirmed their commitment to holding the event annually to spread the principles of the Hussein revolution. The march concluded peacefully at the Abuja train station, without any security incidents.
