Heat wave scorches 8 Middle East countries amid warnings of extreme temperatures, fire risk

A severe heat wave is currently affecting eight Middle East countries: Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait, Anadolu Agency reported. Meteorological agencies in these countries have warned of extreme temperatures, high humidity, and an increased risk of wildfires.

In Iraq, temperatures are expected to reach up to 50°C (122°F) in some provinces, while Egypt’s meteorological authority has advised residents to drink plenty of fluids and avoid direct sunlight, with temperatures in Greater Cairo expected to exceed 40°C (104°F). Both the Syrian Meteorological Directorate and the Lebanon Weather Service have also issued warnings about persistent extreme heat and the danger of fire hazards.
