The World’s Largest Husseini Mawkib, “Shahid Jumah Mawkib,” Joins Arbaeen Pilgrimage

The “Shahid Jumah Mawkib,” recognized as the world’s largest Husseini Mawkib (pilgrim service station), is actively participating in the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage. Located in Souq al-Shuyukh, Iraq, this year’s observance includes a magnificent mourning ceremony.
The Mawkib, a prominent mourning group in the Dhi Qar province, traditionally holds its ceremonies at the Mosque of Hazrat Abul Fazl al-Abbas (peace be upon him). For the Arbaeen walk, the group is accompanied by more than 50,000 pilgrims and 80 different affiliated groups, some under the name “Ansar al-Hussein.” Branches of the Mawkib in the United States and Canada have also joined the event, and further participation is expected from its branches in Kirkuk, Baghdad, Najaf, and Diyala.
Pilgrim numbers are projected to exceed 65,000 by the seventeenth day of Safar. Upon its arrival in Karbala, the Mawkib will carry a symbolic coffin of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) to commemorate his martyrdom, a gesture that highlights global empathy and love for the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
