Shia Family Forcibly Evicted in Damascus, Raising Concerns Over Minority Rights
————————————-
A Shia family, the Al-Qaq family, has been forcibly expelled from their home in the Hujeira region, south of Damascus, by an armed group reportedly affiliated with Idlib, Shia Waves Persian reported. This incident occurred despite the family possessing official ownership documents for their property.

The family, originally from the Shia town of Kafriya in Syria, has not only been evicted but has also received multiple threats, leaving them in a highly insecure situation. According to the Shia Waves Agency, quoting New Arab, security forces of the “Julani government” have so far taken no action to protect the family, despite this clear violation of human and property rights.

Experts suggest that this incident is indicative of an alarming increase in sectarian attacks and the vulnerable status of religious minorities in Syria. Concerns are mounting that the international community has largely remained unresponsive to these developments. Analysts further view this situation as a continuation of oppression and sectarian pressures in the region, noting that the pleas of these minorities have largely gone unanswered.
