Buses Arrive to Evacuate Civilians in Syria Amidst Stabilization Efforts

Six buses arrived in Syria’s eastern Daraa province on Saturday to evacuate civilians from neighboring Suwayda, as part of ongoing efforts to stabilize the region, Anadolu Agency reported. Nour al-Din al-Baba, spokesperson for the Interior Ministry, described the evacuation as “temporary,” aimed at reestablishing law and order in Suwayda before residents can return.

This move follows a ceasefire that has been in effect since July 19, which brought an end to a week of deadly fighting between Druze and Bedouin factions, further complicated by Israeli intervention. Syria’s transitional administration, formed after Bashar al-Assad’s ouster on December 8, 2024, is actively working to restore stability across the country after nearly 25 years of authoritarian rule.
