India: Kargil’s Multilingual Mushaira Honors Imam Hussain’s (peace be upon him) Legacy

The Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (LAACL), Kargil, India, has recently held a District-Level Multilingual Hussaini Mushaira at the Academy Hall to honor the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and his companions, Voice of Ladakh reported. The event highlighted Imam Hussain’s (peace be upon him) timeless message of truth, justice, and resistance against tyranny.

Aga Syed Mujtaba, Executive Councilor for Social Welfare, praised LAACL’s efforts to preserve Kargil’s cultural and religious heritage and urged youth participation to keep ancestral values alive. He called on poets to reflect Imam Hussain’s (peace be upon him) spirit in their work, emphasizing the ongoing relevance of Karbala’s message.

More than 32 poets recited in regional languages including Ladakhi, Balti, Purgi, Urdu, Shina-Dardi, and Brokskat-Dardi, celebrating themes of sacrifice, faith, and love. A condolence meeting was also held for the late poet and educationist Haji Ali Bhutto Nousheen.

The event, anchored by Shujaat Ali Shujaat and concluded by Tsewang Rigzin, attracted a diverse audience, reaffirming the enduring cultural and spiritual legacy of Karbala in Kargil.
