Pakistan urges data-driven, inclusive approach to climate-related disasters

Pakistan’s Climate Change Minister Dr. Musadiq Malik on Tuesday called for data-driven and community-inclusive strategies to manage the growing threat of climate-related disasters. Speaking at the inauguration of the 2nd Pakistan Expo on Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR-25), Malik emphasized the need for culturally informed and coordinated responses to complex emergencies.

Highlighting the country’s 2030 resilience vision, Malik stressed the importance of innovation, inter-agency collaboration, and evidence-based policymaking. Pakistan, he noted, is working to enhance disaster preparedness through early warning systems, localized response frameworks, and the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), which also shares expertise with regional partners.

The expo, organized by the National Disaster Management Authority, gathered diplomats, UN officials, humanitarian actors, and private sector leaders. Malik praised civil and military efforts in past crises and urged international donors to increase support for adaptation strategies, including access to climate finance and carbon markets.
