Muscat International Book Fair attracts 70,000 visitors in single day

The 29th Muscat International Book Fair in Oman is attracting record crowds, with over 70,000 visitors attending in a single day, Anadolu Agency reported. The annual event, held in the Omani capital since April 24, runs through Saturday under the theme “Cultural Diversity: Enriching Civilisations.”
Sheikha Al Mahruqi from Oman’s Ministry of Information highlighted the overwhelming response, emphasizing the fair’s popularity among both Omanis and international guests. Over 600,000 books are on display, showcasing the event’s focus on diversity as a pillar of civilization’s richness.
This year’s fair features participation from 674 publishers representing 35 countries worldwide, offering a broad spectrum of literary works. Visitors of all ages are engaged through 211 cultural programs and 155 activities designed specifically for children, including book signings, seminars, and educational events.
The Muscat International Book Fair continues to serve as a major cultural hub, promoting literacy and celebrating the diversity of global literature while fostering community engagement and learning across generations.
