BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad Promises “No Mosques Will Be Touched” Amid Discussion on Waqf Bill

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad stated that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, recently approved by Parliament, aims to enhance accountability and transparency for Muslim community benefits, NDTV reported. Speaking to NDTV, he emphasized that no mosque, place of worship, or graveyard will be affected.
Prasad explained that the bill ensures the proper management of Waqf properties, which he described as legal entities rather than religious ones. He highlighted the misuse of Waqf land for commercial purposes, questioning the management’s integrity. The bill will introduce online accountability for Waqf boards, allowing public access to property information.
When asked about potential backlash from the Muslim community, Prasad downplayed concerns, referencing the BJP’s political evolution since 1984. He asserted that India’s political landscape has changed significantly and that younger minority community members are adapting to this shift.
