The Coordination Council of Turkish Muslims of France (CCMTF) has called on the French Interior Ministry to enhance security for Muslim places of worship following a rise in anti-Muslim attacks, media outlets reported.
CCMTF head Ibrahim Alçı expressed concerns over growing threats against mosques, particularly after a fire destroyed the Franco-Turkish prayer hall in Jargeau on February 25-26. The incident followed previous threats, including an anonymous letter in 2023 and offensive graffiti earlier this month.
Alçı stressed that worshippers now fear for their safety and urged authorities to implement measures such as surveillance cameras, increased police patrols, and stronger support for religious associations.
Local authorities have restricted access to the damaged building due to structural concerns. Officials condemned the attack and expressed support for the Muslim community.
