Pakistan: Six Terrorists Killed in Karak Operation, Says ISPR

Six terrorists were killed on Friday in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district, Dawn online newspaper reported citing the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operation was launched after credible intelligence indicated the presence of terrorists in the area.

In a press release, the ISPR stated that the security forces effectively engaged the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of six individuals, referred to as “khawarij,” a term used for members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). A sanitization operation is underway to ensure no other terrorists remain in the vicinity.

This operation comes amid a surge in terror activities across Pakistan, particularly in KP and Balochistan, following the TTP’s decision to break a ceasefire with the government in 2022. Last week, 13 terrorists were killed in five separate operations in KP. On February 15, four soldiers were killed, and 15 terrorists were neutralized in another IBO.

The ISPR emphasized the military’s resolve to eradicate terrorism, highlighting that 925 terrorists were killed in 59,775 operations last year, though 383 soldiers lost their lives in these efforts.
