Mufti Abdul Qayyum Zaheer Insults Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him) Again
Mufti Abdul Qayyum Zaheer has sparked controversy once more by insulting Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him) during recent social media interactions and on the national TV channel Neo News, Shiite News reported. His remarks, deemed offensive by many, included claims that the twelfth Imam had “run away” and is “hiding in a cave,” which has incited outrage among the Shia community.
During a debate, Zaheer directed his comments toward Shia commentators, asserting that they would also flee like their Imam. His statements have not only hurt the sentiments of Shia Muslims but have also drawn criticism for disrespecting prominent figures such as the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), Amir al-Mo’mineen Imam Ali (peace be upon him), and Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra, (peace be upon her).
The controversial figure had repeated the same offensive remarks on a national TV channel New News regarding the Imam of the Time, may Allah hasten his reappearance, a few days earlier, revealing his enmity with the Pure Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them.
In light of these incidents, calls for action against Zaheer have intensified, with demands for law enforcement to intervene and hold him accountable for his inflammatory remarks. The Shia community continues to express grief and anger over his statements.
