Lebanon Struck by Severe Snowstorm and Heavy Rainfall
Lebanon is currently facing its worst weather conditions in a decade, marked by a significant snowstorm and heavy rainfall, Anadolu Agency reported. According to the state news agency NNA, snow has blanketed various villages and towns in the mountainous regions of the western Beqaa area, with accumulations reaching up to 25 centimeters, isolating several towns in the Rachaya district.
In addition to the snowfall, coastal areas of Lebanon have also experienced intense rainfall. To address the situation, municipal authorities and the army have deployed snowplows and heavy machinery to clear roads obstructed by the storm.
The Lebanese Meteorological Service has reported overcast conditions, leading to temperatures dropping below seasonal averages. Other countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, and Türkiye, are also grappling with severe weather, characterized by heavy rains and snowfall, especially in mountainous regions.
